Video Column:The “First Knife” | JAN 23, 2025

In the field of precision and complex surgery for sigmoid colon and rectal cancer, the “first incision” not only marks the beginning of the surgery, but also represents a profound exploration of surgical techniques and medical knowledge. The theme of this column is “The First Knife”, and through six carefully planned videos, it aims to deeply analyze the key operation of entering the “Angel Hair” level of surgery from multiple dimensions, that is, the process of exposing the inferior mesenteric artery and protecting the ureter.
On the level of “angel hair”, it is known for its delicacy and complexity, requiring surgeons to possess extremely high anatomical knowledge and surgical skills. This series of videos will comprehensively showcase every detail of the surgical process from the first person perspective of the lead surgeon, combined with multiple perspectives such as surgical assistants, microscope close ups, and 3D reconstruction models. This is not only a visual demonstration of surgical skills, but also a deep exploration of medical anatomy and surgical theory. Through the presentation of the video, we will delve into how to accurately locate and expose the inferior mesenteric artery while ensuring surgical safety, while effectively avoiding damage to the ureter, providing valuable academic reference and practical guidance for medical professionals.
The “First Knife” series of videos is not only a superb display of surgical skills, but also a noble tribute to the spirit of medical exploration. We sincerely invite medical professionals and medical enthusiasts to join us in this academic and practical feast, and jointly promote the development and progress of the surgical field for sigmoid colon and rectal cancer.
